Dancing Ledge

Colour photograph.  Quarries and caves around the Purbeck coast made ideal hiding places for contraband.  Access to Dancing Ledge was difficult for horses and carts so tub men carried the contraband inland.  Charles Hayward rented a quarry at Dancing Ledge.  The stone was shipped out by stone boats operating from Swanage.
