Easter - September, Term time, Friday - Tuesday, School holidays, all week. 10.30 - 5.00 (Closed 1.00 - 1.30). Closed  November - Easter.  Open to schools and parties by prior appointment.
Esablished 1930 in thatched 17th Century cottages above Church Ope Cove, location for Thomas Hardy novel "The Well Beloved". Exhibitions, shipwrecks and smuggling, the Royal manor of Portland, people, places, artefacts, Dr Marie Stopes (founder and famous birth control pioneer), fossil collection, garden, picnic area and shop.

Items relating to smuggling and shipwrecks include children's shoes from the Royal Adelaide.

Free car park opposite.
